Firm was recently retained to represent Winship Construction Company to handle an appeal of a summary judgment granted in a breach of contract case involving a large commerical construction project. The case is pending in the Thirteenth District Court of Appeals.
Firm was recently retained to represent B-C Equipment Sales, Inc., to handle an appeal by a trucking company that had leased and then damaged two Link-Belt cranes after a large judgment had been entered against the trucking company in a jury trial. The case is pending in the Thirteenth District Court of Appeals.
Firm was recently retained by Bride’s Gallery to handle an appeal of a summary judgment in a breach of contract case involving the interpretation of a lease with respect to payment of ad volrem taxes.

Firm is currently handling a putative class action case on behalf of the plaintiffs agasint W-H Energy Services for its failure to pay overtime wages to its employees under the Fair Labor and Standards Act. The case is pending in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas–Corpus Christi Division.
In 2005, the Jon D. Brooks represented Haggar Apparel Company in the appeal of two jury verdicts in employment cases to the Texas Supreme Court. One verdict was for about $2 million in a case brought by a former employee who alleged she was discharged in retaliation for filing a workers' compensation claim. The other verdict was for about $250,000 and was brought by a former employee who alleged she was discharged because of disability discrimination. The firm filed successful petitions for review in both cases and following briefing on the merits, obtained a reversal and rendered judgments in both cases in favor of Haggar. |
